The camera stays on your phone

Alex's Mat points your camera at a play mat and turns toy movement into sound. Every camera frame is analysed on your device, in the browser or app itself. Frames are never uploaded, stored on a server, or seen by anyone. Close the tab and they're gone.

Recordings stay on your device

If you record short voice clips for sound zones, they are kept in your device's local storage (up to eight two-second clips) and never leave it. Saved play mats live in the same on-device storage. Deleting the app or clearing site data removes them.

No accounts, no tracking

There is nothing to sign up for. We set no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no cookies. We can't build a profile of you or your child because nothing about you reaches us.

The one outside request

This website loads its two typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a standard request to Google's font servers when a page loads. That is the only third-party request the site makes. The app itself works offline once loaded.
